Stewart's solo debut fresh out of the Jeff Beck Group, but if anything his rootsy rock is, for me, more appealing and like most of the good albums he made it's a refreshing mix of ace covers (Stones, Ewan MacColl's "Dirty Old Town," Mike D'Abo's "Handbags and Gladrags") and his own originals (on this album, especially "An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down"). But beyond Stewart's singing and the song selection, the band (lead by future Rolling Stone Ron Wood) is tight - grooving and rocking or playing acoustic and lovely as needed. A great album.
