Rockport School Harbor Scene by Ralph Fuller (1890-1963) Watercolor Painting

Description: this is an exceptionally clean vintage watercolor painting done by listed artist Ralph Fuller (1890-1963) who spent much of his adult time doing commercial artist work - in his free time, he would travel to oceanfront areas around Rockport & the Cape Ann area as well as New York & New Jersey ocean areas painting marine scenes in watercolor - I believe that this colorful marine painting is of a harbor area in the Cape Ann area considering the subject matter of the painting - here we see a glimpse of a two-masted fishing vessel through a boulder strewn landscape surrounded by weather beaten fishing shacks - the talented artist used a palette of very muted yellow-beige & brown colors to depict the boulders where the sun is shining on them - he painted the fishing shacks with very muted yellow & brown-beige colors & their roofs in muted brown & gray colors - the small dock & lobster traps were painted in muted gray beige & orange-brown colors as they appeared to the artist at the time - to the far left, the boulders & the fishing shack are well into the shadows & were painted in muted gray & black which juxtaposes well versus the more colorful paint used for the fishing shacks & boulders in the sunlight - the painting measures 14" x 20 " sight size, & is in very good vintage condition - it is set under glass - the painting does have a new mat around it, but, the wooden frame is original to the painting - the frame is in very good condition & measures 22" x 28" - painting can be picked up at my home in Swanzey, NH to save on the shipping cost -
