Description: For sale this amazing green ( turquoise) Quatrefoil Watteau plate by Richard Klemm, Dresden, Germany. Each plate from this line features colorful scenes of courting couples, alternating with floral bouquets on a yellow background. Marked: RK under Crown Dresden Germany. These plates were produced between 1869 and 1916, depense on pattern. The artist Richard Klemm had a studio from 1869 to 1916. You can note the mark on the back indicating his initials with a crown above them. It was in the 1880's that he registered this mark under the name of "Klemm Dresden Crown". The gold leaf blank below is what he used to cover over the mark made by the manufacturer of the blanks that he used to decorate, in most cases it was Meissen Porcelain. All details of each panel are hand painted bordered by gilt scrolls. The plate in very good condition, no demage or scratches. Plate`s diameter 7 5/8 inch. Minimal abrasion of the background on the right side above the flowers and below the flowers near the gold stripe (photo 4). Due to the nature of vintage items, all my items are sold "as is".
