Variants: beech (light) or oak (dark) - Please don't forget to write us which variant you have chosen. Description of veneer decks: Deck is marked in the veneer to correspond to the historic facts. For the design of the deck appearance I used original plans of this ship from the book of Andrew Bowcock – CSS Alabama. I needed to make just a small correction because the design of the deck by Revell don’t correspond exactly to the original. You can see the comparison of both decks on the attached picture. This way the placement of the nails on the deck so called” treeline”, correspond exactly to the placement of the deck beams, on which they were nailed – you can see also on the attached picture. Design of the deck contains also details like peripheral boards so called “waterway”, proper laying of each individual board and their termination into waterway especially on the nose by so called “hooking”. Natural and real looking relief is made by laser burning of the deck. Veneer deck fits exactly on the plastic deck of this model. All holes are cut out in the deck, as on the plastic base. The biggest difference between kit and original is in the deployment of the “rails” – metal strips by which the deck was covered and was used to transfer of the heavy cannons. These are imitated by etched strips, which should be painted by metal color and glued on the dashed line marked spots on the deck. The legend of the placement of the etchings is on the next scheme.
