Description: Norwegian WW2 Resistance Milorg Armband / Brassard Second World War This handmade reproduction armband is made from khaki cotton canvas backing with a cotton Norwegian flag sewn with khaki thread. Based on examples in Norwegian museums. Milorg (abbreviation of militær organisasjon – military organization) was the main Norwegian resistance movement during World War II. Resistance work included gathering intelligence to be passed to Britain, sabotage, supply missions, raids, espionage, transport of goods imported to the country, release of Norwegian prisoners and escort for citizens fleeing the border to neutral Sweden. The armband is approx. 16" x 4.5". The top and bottom edges are turned and machine-sewn. There will be rough edges and loose threads etc on the inside. Wartime-manufactured armbands were turned around quickly, adding to the look. The armband comes with a safety pin to hold the armband in place on the upper arm. Overall, a great period-looking Norwegian resistance armband. Perfect for re-enacting events or for displaying.
