Description: This auction is for a high-quality modern reprint of the vintage WWII flight manual entitled "General Service Notes B-24D and J Bombardment Airplane", 320pages, 1944, Consolidated Vultee, These are not your grandmother's scans. Every page has been hand-corrected to remove as many blemishes as possible. Color correction with a known color standard sheet was used to get the colors as close to the original as possible. There is some yellowing of the pages due to age. Special care was taken with the half-tone images to make sure all the depth and range of the originals is preserved as much as possible. Manuals are printed on 24 lb paper and comb-bound with clear plastic front cover and black plastic back sheet. No attempt has been made to make the binding look like the original military glued soft cover. These have plastic comb-binders. All color images are reproduced in full color. Although the original manual that I scanned is public-domain, this hand-edited edition is copyright James A. Moorer 2021. I have sprinkled small copyright notices throughout the manual. My apologies for this defacement. I hope it is not too distracting. This is a rare manual. It is a companion to the big 8-volume manual set provided by Consolidated when the B-24 was introduced. Presumably, after some experience was acquired about field servicing, they wrote this book. It is marked as 1944, but I believe it came out somewhat after the 8-volume set. Sections include Heater System, Fuel System, Landing Gear, Movable [sic] Surfaces and Controls, Electricity, Hydraulics, Power Plant, Lubrication and much more.
