Description: Perfect for Ren fairs, LARP, SCA, & reenactment/historical events. For consideration is a handmade, brick red quilted-like cotton (blend?) & goldish yellow brocade, Medieval woman's courtly surcoat/overdress. Surcoats dresses were the common worn in Medieval times over an underdress or chemise. They were everything from dressy to casual. Lengths varied & this one is full length. This one is a more regal print & fancy enough for the royal court. The skirt part is a heavy-weight fabric with a beautiful geometric design print. The dress is adorned at the neckline with a goldish yellow, wide, corded gimp & the waist & armholes are a thinner brick red, gray, & gold gimp. The upper bodice has a wider gold & dark red trim that runs down the center going under in front & over in back the neckline trim. You can actually wear either side you want for the front or back as the cut is exactly the same. Trims are sewn on by hand for a quality look. Inside seams are French seamed for no fraying & longevity of wear. Bottom hem is machine rolled & turned again hand hemmed. Loose fit of surcoats allows for a range of sizing. This is a basic small to large in sizing. Please see the measurement for a good fit, most importantly the hip measurement. Shown on size small setting.
