From the estate of a European Bishop, a beautiful relic of Saint John of God, one of the most difficult saint’s relics to obtain. This particular reliquary is outstanding!! The relic of the Saint is very large, and the condition is remarkably just like the day it was made!Saint John, aka Santo Juan de Dios, was a Portuguese born Spanish Soldier of fortune who, after having had a vision of the Infant Jesus who called him "John of God." He converted, and changed his ways, dedicating the rest of his life to helping the sick, the homeless and destitute. He founded the religious order of the Hospitallers of St. John of God, which operates hospitals and cared for the poor and the sick throughout the world till this day. Saint John of God is a powerful intercessor for anyone struggling with any health concerns...He is especially called on for intercession with heart disease and high blood pressure as well as alcoholism or any substance abuse. The relic is sealed with intact red silk threads. The threads are sealed with a large, crisp red wax seal with a depiction of the Roman god “Cupid” or perhaps an Angel in the shield on the coat of arms.The entire reliquary is in exceptional condition. This reliquary was clearly never displayed in bright light. It was encased in a larger theca which protected it over the years from dirt, dust, smoke and UV light. He led a wild and mispent youth, and traveled over much of Europe and north Africa as a soldier in the army of Charles V, and as a mercenary. Fought through a brief period of insanity.
