Description: This stunning, circa 1950? Italian 800 silver Shar-Pei is highly detailed with a wonderful vintage patina. It was made using the electro-forming method of covering polystyrene with a thick coat of silver. This adorable Italian silver Shar-Pei dog is so detailed, you can see every fold of skin, and every hair on his amazing wrinkles. Looking much less like his ancient Chinese fighting dog ancestors, and much more like an amicable family pet, this nearly 6 inch tall treasure has a beautiful aged patina. It was made using the electro -forming method in which a polystyrene model is covered with a thick layer of silver. Leaving the polystyrene inside, as was done with this piece, gives it much more stability and durability. It is marked 800 and we believe that it dates back to the 1950's. It makes a perfect collector's piece, decorative item or a wonderful gift as is, with its vintage patina. However, it can also be polished up to a high brilliance by its next owner, and look stunning. This was an estate find and estate jeweler confirmed this is Italian 800 silver which is confirmed by the marks and the stickers on the bottom verify the tie to Italy.
