This is a Premium REBUILD SERVICE for YOUR Stromberg Carburetor Model 97 If you do not already have these carburetors, do not buy this auction. Please do not pay for the auction until you are ready to ship your carburetor. Ebay and I will give you some time.This is for your Stormberg Model 97, 48, or 40 2-Barrel Carburetor of various styles used on many Flathead engines and custom applications. It will be rebuilt by one of the best and largest classic carburetor rebuilders in the world. The best available NEW gaskets, seals, accelerator pump, inlet seat/needle, pump springs, power valve, and mixture needles are used to bring them to better than new condition and make them ethanol-resistant. You get a new correct size main metering jets if needed, and polished stainless steel fasteners for the bowl cover. Each carb is bench-tested and set to specifications. A new base gasket is included.One of the most often overlooked or avoided part of rebuilding these is removing and cleaning the fuel emulsion tubes. These are the pointed brass tubes you can see sticking out of the boosters in the carb inlet. They are a press fit and require a special tool and knowledge to get them out without any damage because they are almost always corroded to the carb body. They have a series of very small holes along their length which are almost always plugged from normal use. You will not get the optimum performance you could have if these are not removed and cleaned. I go one step further and polish them to extend the time between rebuilding.If you have one of the rare smaller Model 81 carbs, I have a separate auction listed for them since their kits are crazy expensive. The shipping time of 15 days is only a swag, as I don't know how long it will take you to ship your carb to me. It will, however, only take a couple of days to get them back in the mail once it arrives. Typical turn around is about a week start to finish, depending on the shipping method you choose.I rebuild about 50-60 of these particular carbs each year so you can be confident that it will be right. Many carbs out there still have a "factory quality" issues typical of no or poor quality control at the time they were manufactured, so I check and correct the problems such as warpage, uneven sealing surfaces, throttle body and throttle plate wear and corrosion that cause fuel to seep out or drip into the carb at idle and after shut down. I also use a special fuel proof sealer on the jet plug gaskets to make sure they don't leak. Here is my only "disclaimer": While I have resurrected many of these antiques, there are some that are beyond repair. If you send a carb which has internal damage, stripped threads, missing parts from a previous rebuild attempt, or passages that cannot be unplugged, (or has been sitting in a state of disrepair for decades), I will inform you and return the unit after refunding what you paid for the rebuild service. I can replace any missing parts that are included in rebuild kits, but not missing hardware at this price. (I have some, but check first. If I don't have them, I can probably find them).
