Designed by Bobby Jackson and released on 30 April 2015.The black plastic bases that Reaper produce are from their Dark Heaven Bones line. Some larger bases may be slightly warped, but they can be easily straightened. For warped plastics, some people use hot and cold water. Please don’t do this by having both the hot and cold tap running at the same time, as it is a terrible waste of water, use two bowls instead. Just have one of hot, the other with cold in it (and perhaps a few ice cubes). Then just place them in the hot water straightening them and while still applying pressure to them, putting them in cold (use rubber gloves if the water is too hot!). I don’t do this as the best way to deal with warped bases is to actually hold a base in your hands and with your thumbs in the centre, your fingers on the outside edge, buckle them the other way to the warp, overcompensating for it. You may need to do this a few times to get it right, and if you overdo it, just turn the base over and do it the other way. This counteracts the warp and flattens them out. I've done it repeatedly. Large metal miniatures, due to their weight can compensate warped bases to an extent when glued on, flattening them out. You can check if this works just by placing the heavy miniature on it. Plastic miniatures are usually too light to see this though. Sometimes if a plastic miniature has a large surface area that attaches to the base, when it is glued on, if you have the Reaper base on a hard flat surface, (glass is great for this) and are pushing down until the glue sets, then the miniatures base by itself will assist to keep the Reaper base flat. As I say, the easiest and less messy way is to just bend them by back by hand using thumbs and fingers, which works a treat. These Reaper Base Boss bases are brand new and chamfered, so measure at the top: width 21mm. The bottom: width 25mm. They are 4mm tall. The slot is length 20mm, width 2mm. These round plastic bases have the open slot, that is slightly off the centre, and also a closed slot that can be opened easily, that is on the centre line. This means that you can easily position a miniature on the centre of the base, or slightly back, or forwards depending on what you wish. This can be useful due to the weight of the miniature and it's centre line of balance, or for aesthetic purposes. These gaming bases are also slightly lipped at the edge. A raised thin line that if you put sand on the base, would be level with it, which is nice as it holds it in and sort of frames it all. Don't go thinking you can use items on these bases in Games Workshop's Warhammer shop's though. Please be aware that you can only use Games Workshop Warhammer bases for Warhammer Fantasy Battle (WHFB), Age of Sigmar (AOS), Warhammer 40,000 (40K) and various other wargames that GW produce. These bases are useful for basing small troops, monsters or vehicles, dependent on the gaming scale that they are being used for.
