Description: Searching for an owl mate ?🦉 Rare Victorian French 1900 18K Gold Ruby eYes Owl Bloodstone Seal Pendant Fob 🦉 Hallmarked with the eagles head (8th image) on the loop between bale and owl which is 18K gold of French origin. Weighs approximately 7 grams. Approximately 2.96 cm (1 2.5/16 inches) in height from bloodstone seal base to top of hallmarked loop excluding the bale. The un-engraved (not yet dedicated) bloodstone seal is approximately 2.02 cm (13.7/16 of an inch) in width. The owl itself is approximately 2 cm (13/16 of an inch) in height from the tip of its slightly elevated left ear to the bottom tip of its lowered right wing. The bale is a bit rough and was re-welded closed. The owl being hollow cast has two perforated areas, a hole between the right wing and torso above the right leg, and a vertical perforation between left wing and torso, both very visible in the first image, but these were done intentionally to achieve a miniature hollow cast sculpture, overall a lovely find, no ? Primarily designed as a pocket watch fob but can ideally serve as a pronounced pendant or miniature highly detailed sculpture of an owl as you see fit. Owl represent wisdom and knowledge and are often associated with books for those of us that spend long hours reading at night. The seal stone is a bloodstone, while the eyes are cabochon rubies, rubies for love and passion, thus searching and hunting for love and passion, now how cool is that !
