Description: My Ref # WWII FT17 German Box Original WWII photo of a French Renault FT17 Tank captured by the German Army. The photo was taken by a photographer of the German Propagandakompanien (PK) aka German Propaganda Company and captured by the Red Army at wars end. The French manufactured over 3,000 FT17s in WWI and used over 500 of them to fight the May 1940 German invasion. These were no match against the German Panzers. Prone to breakdowns, many FT17s never saw combat. The FT17 was one of the first tanks to use a rotating turret. This original B/W photo, which measures in at approximately 83MM X 120MM, was captured by the Red Army and turned over to the Russian State Documentary Film and Photo Archive (RGAKFD) and stayed there until the late 1980s where they were declassified. This is shown by the blue "ПОГАШЕНО" stamp on the back. Its one word but the best Russian translation for it is either "Paid Off" or according to Russian information on the internet, "This Photo Has Been Removed From Registration in Some Archive" which sort of makes sense. If someone reading this has a better answer, please let me know. The photo was then numbered and a what appears to be some sort of signature in pencil is written across the back.I am far from an expert on the actual technical aspects of photography but if someone has some other information, please let me know!!! Similar photos and postcards that are put up for auction often go over $80.00. I have hundreds of captured WWII German photos primarily from the Africa Campaign and Russian invasion including the German Army and Luftwaffe I have numerous photos of German aircraft, aces, and tanks. I also have some photos from the Kriegsmarine including ships and U-Boats. Look back weekly to see what I have added. If you have something you are interested in, let me know and if I have it, I can create a listing for you. Shipping- My shipping section is longer than my listing!!! I want you to know what you are paying for. I take my shipping seriously. If you have ever purchased from me in the past, you will know that paper goods and photos are sent completely surrounded by acid free archival quality papers and/or acid free PVC free Polypropylene bags and covers. Other items are surrounded by materials that will protect them during shipping. This cost me well spent money. I also use a variety of recycled and new packaging including boxes and mailers. I try not to profit on my shipping. Please do not misinterpret my shipping charges. I take my time when packing anything anyone buys. I don't rush it, but at the same time, I don't overdue it. I hand select packaging materials that will not only protect the items value but will protect it during shipping. By placing a bid or buying it outright, you agree to any method I use to pack your item, new or used shipping material as I see fit. My feedback often mentions that my packing is well done. Shipping Charges- I know that some sellers only charge $1.00-$3.00 to ship photos and postcards. They are using USPS First Class Mail which is cheap, but doesn't come with tracking. If the item gets lost in the mail, I lose the money and the photo because I can't prove that I ever mailed it or you have ever received it. Unfortunately, there are buyers who receive the item but make fraulent claims that they didn't. I will only send my items using a method that can track your shipment. The cheapest option is USPS Ground Advantage with Tracking. Ebay charges me just under $5.00 to do so. I did something no other seller will do. I attached a photo of the cost that eBay shows me to mail a package anywhere in the U.S. I also use a brand new cardboard photo mailer which cost me around 50 cents and that includes a photo safe archival bag for your photo. I have a flat rate for these single photos of $4.99. Now, if you buy more than one photo, I will of course combine the shipping and no matter how many photos you buy, it will always be just one shipping charge of $4.99. What is the best thing about my packaging? It will be easy to open! How many times have you received a package only to spend ten minutes trying to open it without destroying the contents!!! No extra tape, glue, staples, or my worst fear, items shoved between two pieces of cardboard with tape on every edge requiring a surgeon's scalpel to open it!!! I have ruined several items because the seller thinks that they have to tape everything and its impossible to know where to cut without causing damage to the contents. This won't happen with your package!!! I'm going to celebrate my first year of this new store in a few months. I will be adding more items over the next few weeks and months. Check back with me every week to see what I have added. Please contact me first with any issues. Thanks for looking!!!
