Description: Ruth Gibbs, "Play Friends" series doll ~all original Welcome to our collection of Ruth Gibbs dolls! Here is a rarely found, 7 inch tall, signed: R.G., pink tint, china shoulderhead doll by Ruth Gibbs, Flemington, N.J., circa 1940s, (doll in center, only, others available separately) and designed by Herbert Johnson. She is just so sweet, all original and in mint condition wearing her original, brown & cream plaid, ruffled taffeta gown with cream net double ruffle, cream net pantalettes and petticoat. She has a perfect cloth body with pink china limbs and wonderful painted beige/tan slippers. Her adorably molded features include dark blue painted eyes, long eyelashes, rosy cheeks, heart-shaped, painted open mouth (white space between lips) and pretty, blonde painted hair. Her original paper label reads: November Play Friends of the Year/No. 511P /Ruth Gibbs, Inc./Flemington, N.J.What a delightful member of the dolls produced by this American made manufacturer during the World War II era! She has no damages, no repairs, no stains or fading and no odors and is from a smoke free home.
