Description: A Japanese vase from late Edo period circa early-mid 19th century. Very unusual, almost experimental shape. Although the mark is lost, enough remains that I feel this is from the Yoshidaya kiln, made during the early 19th century revival about 100 years after Ko-kutani (old-Kutani) ware stopped being produced. Yoshidaya kiln revived the original style of Ko-Kutani known as Aote, which used yellow, dark blue/black and purple to create bold designs. The Yoshidaya kiln produced wares until the 1830s, and this vase likely dates to then. The vase is 12 inches tall. There are no chips or cracks, and other than previously being drilled for a lamp, it is in excellent condition. I am not an expert, just a casual collector, and these are my opinions. Please look at all pictures, ask questions until you are satisfied, and let me know if you need more photos. You are purchasing this on your judgment and research. I will ship it doubleboxed and fully insured. This means the outer box will measure 20x20x20 to ensure adequate protection. I cannot control shipping charges.
