Description: Up for auction is a very rare intact, 53 stations of the Tokaido by Hiroshige. These prints and the accordion book they are in were produced sometime before 1940 based on the outside material and gold fleck paper used on the inside. This book came from a very old Japanese household and was purchased along with a large lot of woodblock prints all from the same time period. Each print is made with original design wood blocks on thick book binding paper. The prints are a mixture of first and second edition Hiroshige prints. These are 25cm x 36.5cm. Full Oban size. The outside of the book shows it’s age and has shelf wear but the prints are in perfect shape for being close to or more than 100 years old. A couple show a small ink smudge on top or maybe an age spot here or there. This book spent almost its whole life in storage and the prints are bright and crisp. The colors are not faded at all. Please write with any questions. Thanks, Delilah & Jim ***Please note that the item in this listing is sold as is, and only what is shown in the accompanying photos is included in the sale.
