This item is 1.72" tall, .875" wide at widest point and has a thickness of .42". The base is .46" x .6". This item is hollow in the main section of the body for holding spices. I believe this to be a Danish piece called a hovedvandsaeg, a silver item often given as a marriage/proposal gift. While generally they are marked, it isnt unusual to find them without hallmarks. The interior of the lid is marked XVIII & X representing 1810 which would represent the date this was made. The engraving on the bottom is not a seal matrix, it is simply a 19th century allusion to the couple tying the knot between two birds of love, love birds."
