The Four Freshmen was an American male vocal quartet that blended open-harmonic jazz arrangements with the big band vocal group sounds of The Modernaires, The Pied Pipers and The Mel-Tones, which were founded in the "barbershop" tradition. They were discovered in 1948 and the original members were Don Barbour, his brother Ross Barbour, Hal Kratzsch, and Bob Flanigan. With different members, the group is still popular today.
