Description: Rare Family Scene Hand Painted Nippon Porcelain Small Bowl with Feet Very detailed and colored Japanese family scene of a samurai, 2 young boys, and a number of women in front of a home. This is unusual for the choice of scene and details for Nippon bowls that we have seen. Mark on bottom is a blue mark with the sun off to the side of Mt. Fuji, all capital letters HAND PAINTED NIPPON. We have not seen this particular mark before. Nippon porcelain is often antique from the 1890s to 1920s. However, this mark appears screen printed or applied and not hand written so we are unsure of the decade this bowl was made and suspect later rather than earlier. The bowl is 3" in diameter. Three spherical feet are on the bottom of the bowl. The lip sits 1-1/4" off of the table. Used, as-is. One crack that has darkened running down the side, more visible from the bottom than from the inside. Dirt (or possible paint or hard water deposit) on the sky area on the inside. Some gold colored paint missing at the 11:30am position on inside rim. One dark mark on the outside. See attached pictures.
