Description: Rare Early 1900 ~ 1930's Korean MinHwa Folk Hand Painting 8 Panel ShipJangSaeng 10 Symbols of Longevity. 10 symbols are sun, mountains, water, clouds, rock/stone, pine trees, mushroom, turtles, deer and cranes. We know that the paintings are from early 1900 to 1930's (note attached to the screen panel reads "ShipJangSaeng MiGook meaning U.S.A.") and screen frame is most likely an original as well (grey fabric). Kept in storage for over 50 years. Age: early 1900 to 1930's Provenance: Private collection from South Korea, brought to the U.S. in late 70's (note attached to the screen reads "ShipJangSaeng MiGook meaning U.S.A.). Believed to be purchased in South Korea from a lifetime collector in the 60's. Painter is unknown and most likely painted by an anonymous artist. Korean MinHwa or folk paintings were often painted by an anonymous artist. Paintings are in good condition overall for age.There are signs of wear, tear, loss of paint, loss of paper, moth holes and stains through out the painting.
