I’m finally ready to let go of my beautiful Smithsonite raw specimen. I have two available, both with soft ombré blue coloring. This one is a gorgeous Botryoidal specimen from New Mexico, a location that is highly sought after for smithsonite. What I love the most about these pieces is that it reminds me of the rocky coast and clear sparkling ocean. The matrix is a pleasing dove gray. The crystal is a bright saturated aqua blue that ombrés out to a purplish blue. The piece is cool-toned. It has not been treated. A lot of vendors will rub mineral oil on these pieces to bring out the vibrancy before selling. This piece was not treated and I did not add mineral oil to it, although you can if you choose to hold it as part of your collection. Warm, soft, gentle and nurturing, Smithsonite supports the immune system and can assist in balancing the thyroid function. Smithsonite is useful for letting go of deep emotional pain, particularly for adults who were abused or felt unloved as children. The effect will be a gentle and subtle healing rather than a cathartic but traumatic release.
