Description: This is a very rare piece and was likely designed by German sculpture, Albert Strunz, in the mid 1990's. This will appeal to so many collectors: red riding hood, Cortendorf, masks, art pottery, MCM, German pottery, and animal collectors/lovers. I have owned this fabulous piece for over 30 years. I purchased at an antique store in PA and am downsizing my collectibles. This wall mask depicts Little Red Riding Hood and either a dog or the wolf. It looks like a German Shepherd to me. It is approx. 5" wide by 5" tall with the dog's nose being approx. 3" tall. I love the bright colors--blonde hair, red hood, light blue on outfit, brown face and hands and shiny fur on the animal. The girl and her hand are flat paint and the rest is shiny. The back is marked with an incised 3465, an "X" and 75 as well as stamped Western Germany. I see no chips or cracks. There is one tiny bit of paint missing on the back of the piece on the dog's ear as shown--a speck that could be in the making. A few little marks/dirt on clay back as well. Zoom in on all of the pictures please as part of the description. Buyer to pay within 3 days of auction's end. Thanks for bidding! I will ship insured the least expensive way offered to your home. Additional insurance is included in the price of shipping.
