Description: Presented is a fantastic vintage Georg Jensen sterling silver pedestal bowl, with sterling ladle or spoon. The bowl is made in the design identified 197B, which features intricate openwork around the waist, like stylized flowers with their blossoms/petals represented by silver spheres in varying sizes. The look is reminiscent of some La Paglia designs, though it's probably more apt to say Alphonse La Paglia took a lot of inspiration from Georg Jensen and other Danish Modernists. The bowl is very well made, and the basin portion has a fine hand hammered finish, which catches the light beautifully. The accompanying spoon or ladle is also signed Georg Jensen, and matches the bowl fairly well, with a spiral, beaded design to the end of the handle, but is not the same numbered design; we are just keeping it with the bowl because that is how the pieces came to us. The bowl is stamped with the Georg Jensen maker's mark as well as 925 S and sterling, Denmark, and the product/design number 197B. The ladle is also stamped with the Georg Jensen maker's mark, Denmark, and sterling. Both the spoon and bowl are in excellent condition. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs. The bowl measures about 5 3/4 inches in diameter and stands about 4 3/8 inches tall at the rim. The spoon/ladle measures about 7 1/2 inches long. The total weight for both pieces is 391 grams or 13.8 regular ounces. The weight of just the bowl is 327 grams or 11.5 regular ounces, while the spoon weighs 64 grams or 2.3 regular ounces. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
