Description: Available for sale is a novel & seldom seen blue on blue spongeware soap dish. The round circular soap dish is densely sponged and has two embossed concentric bands in the center to elevate the soap & allow the water to drain. The soap dish measures 7/8" in height, 5 1/4" in base diameter & dates from 1885 - 1920. It is in excellent condition with no nicks, damage or repair. The underside has bisque, unglazed areas which are inmanufacture, not damage. Blue on blue spongeware items are infrequently seen.
