INFO: Full Name: LTC Thomas Rawson Warren Jr. Born: December 2, 1872 (Pennsylvania) Death: August 9, 1942 (Santa Barbara, California) Education: Los Angeles High School (Class of 1890) University of Southern California (1891 - 1892) Did not graduate "Rawson Warren was born in Pennsylvania, and graduated with an A.B. from the Leland Stanford Junior University of California in 1894. He graduated with an A.M. from the New York City University in New York City, New York, in 1896. During the Spanish American War, Rawson enlisted as a Private in Battery E of the 3rd United States Artillery Regiment (29th Company, Coast Artillery Corps) on September 1st, 1899. After several enlisted promotions, he was appointed as a Second Lieutenant of Cavalry with the 12th United States Cavalry Regiment on February 2nd, 1901 and served in both the Artillery Corps and 11th Cavalry Regiment, where he was promoted to First Lieutenant of Cavalry with the 5th Cavalry Regiment on March 18th, 1907. He subsequently served with both the 4th and 14th Cavalry Regiments and was promoted to Captain in the 14th Cavalry in 1916. In August, 1917 he was appointed to Major of Infantry with the National Army, then promoted to Lieutenant Colonel of Infantry in June 1918. He was honorably discharged from service with the National Army in September, 1919 and returned to the Cavalry where he was eventually promoted to Lieutenant Colonel of Cavalry in November, 1920. He retired from active service on August 10th, 1921, due to disability incurred in the line of duty.
