RARE! Antique Taylor Smith Art China 9-1/2" Cabinet Plate Artist Signed 3D Corn

Description: RARE! AntiqueTaylor Smith & Taylor Art China 9-1/2" Cabinet Plate Artist RK BEck Signed with Hand painted 3D Corn Rare and hard to find - a long with a very, very early TST art china from the early 1900s - a hand painted artist signed with 3D aspects to this cabinet display plate as there are raised glazing on this piece to give it a 3D effect. The artist R. K. Beck signed each piece as they were done by hand. This plate has a light pink background with an ear of corn that fades into a brown on one side. This plate also has a pierced hole in the foot of the plate so that they could be hung and displayed as well. What a rare find indeed! We have other antique TST cabinet plates in the store as well as many other rare antique ceramic pottery - we do combine shipping if purchasing more than any one item in the store! Like most potteries in the early 1900s, the Taylor, Smith & Taylor Company produced decorated specialties and art ware featuring fancy embossed shapes from 1905 and 1915. It was during this time pieces were picked up from standard dinnerware shapes (namely Normandie and Latona) and given art ware treatments. Most of the decorations used involved blended tints of various shades with decals of fruits, figures, or flowers. Earlier pieces were decorated with gold trim or gold stipple, whereas later pieces relied more on the blended tints. The art ware was discontinued by the early 1920s. Condition: Condition: Good antique preowned condition. Displays excellently. This plate has two hairline cracks on the rim. No chips. Under the glaze crazing. The decorative cake plate measures approx. 9" wide. The back is marked with the early 1900's TST China backstamp. Plate may other small factory production imperfections such as glaze skips, glaze pops, sand bumps, etc - all common with factory production. Some handling wear on the edges. Good condition overall for this rare plate - hand painted elements are gorgeous. See all pictures.
