Description: Up for sale is a late 19th Century Dunn Bennett & Co. ORIENTAL Charger Plate. This plate is from the Aesthetic Movement and is Brown Ironstone Transfer Ware from England. Established in 1876, Dunn Bennett manufactured earthenware and ironstone for both the home and American markets. It became part of the Royal Doulton Group in 1968 joining Doulton Fine China Ltd. and eventually ceased operations in 1998. This plate is in excellent condition for its age, with some crazing, as is expected with any antique ironstone. Plate features ships, flowers and fans in a brown rusty color amongst the decorations. Stamped on bottom of plate with an Oriental woman holding an umbrella and reads: ORIENTAL D. B & Co. Measures 9 5/8” in diameter and 3/4” High. No chips, hairlines or cracks. A wonderful, early Aesthetic movement plate that is rarely seen for sale. Would make an excellent addition to any transfer ware collection. All items are shipped with care, using bubble wrap and peanuts. All items come from a smoke free environment. Shipping cost includes insurance.
