RARE antique organic hemp linen hand woven homespun NUBBY fabric mattress cover

Ive recently had this wonderful textile dyed this gorgeous shade of gray blue ! ~*~ *~*~ This textile weighs nearly 6 pounds! ~ This stunning textile is European , homespun linen mattress cover , This wonderful textile such a heavy weight, NUBBY , slubby hemp!! ! ~ This piece is a very very early textile, dating from the 18th century , certainly that has been dyed recently ! SO wonderfully textural!!! ~*~ Made from piecing wonderful hemp. The texture is floppy and wonderful!~ This textile would have been one of the first layers of bedding, at the bottom, and on top of this would have been 2-3 other covers, filled with straw and the last being filled with feathers and ticking covered. ~ This textile is hand stitched and the front is pieced using the most wonderful plain weave , homespun hemp, all hand stitched using heavy hemp thread~*~ The top has an opening in the seam for stuffing with straw or fodder ~ GORGEOUS!!! ~~ This beautiful textile would make a lovely comforter cover or lovely as a mattress cover for an antique daybed ~. I like to stuff them with a feather comforter and then keep them at the bottom of the bed for pulling up on chilly nights. I also use them in my living areas as lounging pads for reading etc ~*~ or lovely for many many projects including upholstery, curtains, pillows and all of the above! Beautiful indeed MEASUREMENTS : This mattress cover measures approximately 72 inches long by 42 inches wide ~*~ but of course it is either twice as long or twice as wide, depending on how it is opened out if being used for fabric~*~ CONDITION: This wonderful textile is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. This textile must have been stored folded , as you can see there is fading on the front, near the middle ~if you are planning to cut for projects, this can be worked around! ~*~ The edge has a hole ~ this textile is not in perfect condition, but its perfectly wonderful! ~*~ Not without signs of time and use , often inherent in these magical textiles ~ E C58
