Description: This is an extremely rare framed Dancing Japanese Noh actor with mask on silk. It is a stunning piece of art. The intricate details and vibrant colors make this a must-have for collectors of Asian antiques. It’s somewhere around a hundred years old and in amazing condition. The age can only be seen on the back of the frame where you will notice the paper aged by the years. A bit about Noh Theatre: Noh combines elements of dance, drama, music, and poetry into one highly aesthetic stage art. Many of the characters including spirits, demons, gods, and women are portrayed by actors wearing extremely detailed masks and beautiful and luxurious garments. Women were typically played by men which can be gleaned upon a closer look at the actor represented here. Approximately 9.75 inches tall and 7.75 inches in length with a frame width of 1/2 inch. The frame is very beautiful with its golden border and leaf designs in the secondary boarder. I wish I could find out the name of the artist or artists who created this. So much time and love was put into it. I hope someone can find it a good home. Enjoy!
