Description: Rare ANTIQUE HERTWIG GERMANY 2364 SNOW BABY BOTTLE FEEDING SEAL BISQUE Click images to enlarge Description The baby tips the bottle carefully so that there is always milk (think it's milk) in the nipple. The front of the seal is inclined upward on the ice. It's a carefully planned out scene by one of the Hertwig designers sometime in the 1920s or so. The piece measures just about 2"tall and wide in Mary Morrison book page 59 Fig 10.21 This example is in very good condition incised number 2364 on back no chips or cracks The traditional snow baby is made of unglazed porcelain (bisque) and shows a child dressed in a snowsuit; the suit itself is covered in small pieces of crushed bisque, giving the appearance of fallen snowflakes. Figurines of other characters were also made, including Santa Claus, elves and animals such as penguins and polar bears.
