It is a type of fur coat designed to provide warmth in the cold and was worn primarily by military personnel. The bekesha was made of thick fabric, usually broadcloth, and lined with sheepskin or goat fur, providing reliable protection from the cold. The inside of the sheepskin coat was lined with fur, and the collar often had a turn-down fur to cover the neck and upper chest. The bekesha was an important part of the Red Army and Soviet military uniform, especially for soldiers serving in cold regions.
