Rare 1916 CAMBRIDGE Thistle Early Dark Emerald Green & Gold EAPG Bowl Set

Description: Rare find! Early American Pressed Glass Cambridge Green Golden Gilded Thistle Bowl Set. This bowl set is a must-have for collectors and lovers of early American glassware. The golden thistle pattern on emerald green glass adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to any glass display. “Near Cut” is embossed in the center of the large bowl. These pieces are well over 100 years old and do show wear as can be expected. The gilding along the top edges of each piece is missing in some areas. It could easily be touched up. There’s also a chip along the edge of one small bowl, please see the last photo. There are also some small cracks here and there along small bowl edges. The last four pictures show examples of the small cracks, the bowl rims, and the one chip. Since the color name of Emerald was used by Cambridge for a similar dark green color introduced in 1949, collectors refer to this Emerald as Early Dark Emerald. Many of the Near Cut patterns were produced in this color, but most items have the carnival treatment. The Near Cut patterns include: Strawberry, Thistle, Marjorie, Feather, Buzz Saw, and Wheat Sheath. Finding Early Dark Emerald items in Near Cut patterns without the carnival treatment is difficult, with the exception of Thistle. However, most of the Thistle pieces in Early Dark Emerald have the pattern highlighted with gold. Early Dark Emerald was discontinued before 1923. Add to a bundle and save $ on shipping!
