Description: RARE Political pin Lapel pictograms or rebus of Thomas Brackett Reed. The item shows depiction of Tom cat for Thomas, wall bracket for Brackett and Reeds for Reed. Reed was an attorney, author, parliamentarian and republican party politician from Maine. Served as 32 speaker of house of Reps from 1889 to 1891 and 1895 to 1899. Represented Maines first congressional district in the house from 1877 to 1899. Represented portand in Maines legislature and served as attorney General in maine. Represented Cumberland and York counties in the house. Served with the navy as acting assistant paymaster during the civil war. He also ran for president in 1896 but lost the republican nomination to William McKinley. Overall great condition for being 128 years old. Needs a good cleaning as it looks like some polish is still on the item and built up around letters. Shows some wear. Please look at the pictures provided for more details. The pin measures 3/4" across the top. This item is extremely rare.
