Description: RARE 1895 Antique Large Baker's Art Gallery CRYSTAL (CHROMO CRYSTAL) PHOTO Glass Wall Frame. Distinguished Baker's Art Gallery Studio is famous for producing images of presidents like Theodore Roosevelt & celebrity portraits back in the day, started by Lorenzo Marvin Baker (1834-1924) in Columbus, OH. In 1880, John Samuel Schneider (1860-1926) was hired bringing his phenomenal creativity for 'genre scenes', combining art with portraits. He won many gold medals at exhibits in Paris & throughout US, in 1894 he was elected president of the prestigious National Photographer's Assn. This particular large photograph was considered state of the art from the unique process called Chromo-Crystal photography where image is on reverse side of glass. The frame is truly lovely in sepia tone, with ornate metal on all four corners, the frame is gold over wood. It appears to be a beautiful woman holding a bouquet of flowers while feeding birds. Lovely. Estate Sale find from an incredible home filled with rare fine art, all signed. Condition is Used showing age wear on outer edges & one small area around face, not distracting (see pictures as part of description). Being sold As-Is Condition. This is quite old almost 130 years old, a rare hard to find piece, I could not find another. This is for serious photography & art collectors or anyone really who wants to own a piece of technology at its discovery.
