He sold his first crude cartoons to Life magazine in 1910. He soon became an accomplished cartoonist for magazines like Puck, Life, Judge, Collier's, Harper's, and later Liberty, Ballyhoo, College Humor and the New Yorker. He had his own feature in Judge in the 1920s, called 'Fuller Humor'. With cartoon markets drying up in the Depression years, Fuller turned to the comic strip format. He sold his strip 'Oaky Doaks' to Associated Press News Features, and it debuted in 1935. When the AP folded its comic operations in 1961, Fuller was bitter. Having lived for years in New Jersey as an accomplished watercolorist, Ralph Fuller died on August 16, 1963.
