Description: Here is a wonderful example of Agate replacing or covering Dogtooth crystals of calcite. The back of the specimen shows hollow casts, which likely indicates that the silica/agate covered the Calcite, and the Calcite subsequently dissolved, essentially leaving this formation as a cast. This is called an Epimorph. Likely found in the Rio Grande do Sul area, or in adjacent Irai, Brazil. I have never seen a better example of this type of formation. This specimen is 118 grams, or 4 14 oz. The size is 3.5 inch x 2.2inch x 2 inch. Please be advised, I ship with Priority shipping.
