Description: Story about two families, the Rands and the Callums, who have a long standing rivalry. When a Callum kills all of the Rands, save one, the lone survivor swears vengeance. But the Callums are determined he'll never stay alive long enough to fulfill his vow. A strange breed of western in that it has a mixed genre: western plus film noir. The main character, played by Robert Mitchum, experiences a recurring nightmare. Most of the film centers on coming to grips with the meaning behind that nightmare.
