Description: Purple Hyacinth Bean Seeds - 10 Seeds (Lablab purpureus) Common names: Indian Bean, Egyptian Bean, Dolichos lablab, Lablab, Tonga Bean, Tobacco Vine, Jefferson Bean One of my favorite plants ...with the coolest-looking seeds! An heirloom flowering vine, the Purple Hyacinth Bean is a fast grower and the pods that it produces are show stoppers. Native to Africa, these tropical-looking climbing vines with delicate, purple blossoms, and shiny, purple pods stand out against green, wine-colored leaves. Growth is vigorous (6 to 20 feet!) and grows best on a trellis, arbor, railing, fence, wall, post, or other support. It can also trail across the ground or be mounded on itself for an attractive ground cover. The vine can also be grown in containers. The blossoms are attractive to bees, butterflies, and birds ...while the purple pods attract people! Comes in a custom-designed seed packet with instructions (see photos). - Plant Type: usually grown as an annual (can be perennial in USDA Zones 10 and warmer)- Plant In: April-June (most areas) - Days to Germinate: 7 to 20 days at 70° F- Soil: Any with good drainage- Plant Depth: 1" to 1.5"- Seed Spacing: 12" apart - Light: Full sun- Water: Average (tolerates drought; blooms heavier with regular watering) - Height: 6 to 20 feet- Bloom Period: Mid-summer to the frosty days of autumn - Organic, untreated, non-GMO - Grown without pesticides - Seeds are freshly packed for the upcoming growing season but are still viable beyond the growing season. It is best to soak seeds overnight before planting to improve germination. Cover seeds. Germination may take 7 to 20 days. Harden off the seedlings and transplant outdoors after last frost. Do not allow seedlings to become root bound and avoid disturbing the roots too much when handling. Break open pod to collect the seeds. *************** Shipping:- Ships via USPS First-Class Package.- Sorry, no shipping outside of US and US Territories and Minor Outlying Islands. Thank you!
