Description: Purple Fluorite Crystal Cluster Large Display Specimen - Boltsburn Mine, Weardale A nice display specimen of Flourite from Boltsburn Mine in Weardale. The specimen has very large Fluorite crystals, most are frosted internally but some have thin gemmy outer zones. As is typical of most Weardale Fluorites, there is a difference in colour between natural and artificial light due to its property of fluorescing under UV light and the pictures show the crystal under both types of light for comparison (the last 12 photos are in artificial light). The Fluorite cluster measures 12 x 7 x 5.5cm and weighs 578g. (All weights and measures are approximate). This piece comes from the later working of the Boltsburn West levels after 2010.
