Description: PREMIER LOOPING SWISS ALARM CLOCK WITH LEATHER TRAVEL CASE - elegant gilt-brass and black enamel case, matte gold dial - A little gem from my personal collection of clocks curated since 1972. Commencing with apprenticeship to a European master clock and watchmaker through high school graduation, freshmen year of college and remainder of the 1970s, I sensitively restored clocks of all types; opening service and sales showrooms in the western suburbs of Chicago. After a 35 year "sabbatical" pursuing an appraisal career, I returned to the venerable trade. A particularly desirable c. 1970 model - producing during close of Swiss mechanical clock manufacture - as the quartz revolution took over the conservative industry. Other 1960 - mid '70s Looping caliber 51 alarm clocks appear with some frequency on the market. NOT in this state of aesthetic and mechanical preservation. NOT complete with original travel case!! Looping S.A. of Corcelles along with their high-end Swiss competitors ImHof, Angelus and Luxor produced costly post WWII 8-day jeweled lever escapement desk and alarm clocks. Practicing horologists readily acknowledge the Looping caliber 51 as "best of class." This compact 15-jewel movement displays superb design and commendable finishing of each component. Mirror polished gilded brass and black enamel banded case with beveled edge convex crystal, Matte gold dial screened "LOOPING" "15 jewels" "alarm" "8 days" and "T Swiss T." Applied black bar hour markers, luminescent dots, squared baton hands with luminescence. Time and alarm are set at rear with knobs. Mainsprings are wound with unique Looping folding keys. Winding the alarm raises the button atop the case. When the button is depressed (or switch moved from Alarm to Stop position) the bell is silenced. The clock presents handsomely and is in fine operating order. Please review descriptive information and study the photographs for details. I'm available to answer any and all questions / concerns.
