Description: STORAGE m78 m78 PHOTOGRAPH 20/15 Cm auto read of reverse UNDERNEATH THE GASLIGHT GLITTER Liversedge, near Leeds, Yorkshire, where the nineteenth century joins the twentieth with lighting-up time in the gas-lit living room of Primrose Farm, run by sisters Mrs FLORRIE RIACH (left) and Miss ALICE BENTLEY, who are both in their sixties. Both women are up at five o'clock in the morning in time to milk their dairy herd of Shorthorn cattle, feed the livestock, which includes a flock of sheep and two horses, and deliver the milk. Florrie and Alice, have run the farm since their father died nearly thirty years ago, and the only time they call on the opposite sex for assistance, is when there is ploughing to be done. These girls of the old Brigade, know that hard work makes for a happy existence. Certainly a far cry from the frequent pleas for labour saving devices demanded by home dwellers of 1968。 January 13th 1968 PAP 131919-1 PRESS ASSOCIATION PHOTOS FOR FIRST PUBLICATION IN EVENING PAPERS OF ARY 13TH 1968 (PNR/P-0)
