Description: This ethnographic vintage postcard features a pretty young topless Moorish woman. Note her hairstyle, earrings, and necklace. The women’s photograph was taken by a well known and skilled photographer. Francois-Edmond Fortier (1862-1928). He was a French documentary photographer and ethnographer. He published more than 3500 postcards of French West Africa “Afrique Occidentale”. Fortier was based in Dakar, Senegal. The United Nations defines Western Africa as 16 countries, including: Benin, Burkina Faso, Gambia, and Ghana. This postcard is likely from the 1920's and is in excellent condition (see scans).
