Below is English Translation of typed letter:Tumaco or Mataje:One of the most transcendental aspects of Tolita culture is metallurgy, in which its artists stood out with unparalleled pieces, managing to master the technique of metal working. The manufacture of the figurines in this culture is based on grayish clay paste, worked in molds, but only the front part, finishing the back part roughly by hand, resulting flat and sunken towards the inside, figures of both sexes are found and a great variety of attitudes, usually the standing figure, with the arms placed to the sides of the body. The female figures wear a head dress, a short skirt, plain or decorated with incisions, leaving the upper part of the body uncovered. The features are natural, frequently representing the faces of old people, full of wrinkles. Typical are the eyes formed by a combination of relief and incision, sometimes pointing to the eyeball. They have a ring-shaped nose ring. All figures have a strongly deformed skull frontal occipitally and usually devoid of decoration. You will receive the following item:Title: Female FigureDate: 1st–5th centuryGeography: EcuadorCulture: Tolita-TumacoMedium: Ceramic (the color and general appearance like sandstone or limestone)Aprox.
