Share the magic! ****** I remember first seeing drawings of this gag in my EZ Magic catalogues back in the 1970's, though the gag/trick goes back a few decades before that. Credited to Jack London, it is a very visual (and funny) effect, where the performer's necktie rises up, standing out straight, and then coming back down. As a teenage magician, I always wanted to get this one, but at the time, I wore a tuxedo to do my act, with a bow tie. (And yes, it was the late 1970's, so the tux was powder blue with black trim, and the bow tie was big and velvety!) Later in life, when I finally bought myself a Pop-up Tie trick, I found it is not exactly easy to do -- it takes a knack, to get the hang of it. But once you get the proper set up for your personal height and build, and you practice for an hour, you will get the hang of it. And then you can have fun, too. (I suspect that many magicians tried out their Pop Up Ties for a few minutes and decided that it did not work. It does, but you need to work with it for a while, experimenting to get it just right.) Once you get the gimmick properly set, and get the hang of causing the tie to rise, you can levitate the tie without using your hands -- they are completely free during the rise and fall of the tie. As you would expect, the thing works with a sort of pulley/hinge/thread system, but it is very practical -- you can set it and wear the tie throughout your show, doing the gag any time it fits. For kids, I like to pretend I am going to levitate my Rocky Raccoon, and as I hold my hands intently over the animal, my tie goes up instead :-) For adults, please try to resist the obvious jokes based on a popular little blue pill. The gimmick does not need to be permanently attached to the tie, so no need to ruin your best tie to do this gag. I explained a lot about this oldie but goodie, because I wanted you to know that although the effect is quick, and the trick is inexpensive, you will have to play around with it for an hour or so before you get it to work consistently. This version is recent manufacture of the classic gag. Well made of metal. Brand new, with instructions. +++++++++++ ***** Yes, we will combine multiple eBay wins into a single shipment to help lower the overall shipping costs.
