Description: The Poole Family – Stars On Sunday: Favourite Requests From The Television Programme LP (1970) Very good Britishrelease, featuring The Poole Family Singers with Jess Yates at the organ. This album was only ever issued in the UK. From the Yorkshire Television programme. Electronically reprocessed for stereo effect. Condition Vinyl – VG. Clean on visual inspection. Just a few small surface scuffs on each side and one more obvious mark on side 2. Played just pre-listing and sound clarity is very good throughout. Children's vocals sound particularly bright and clear. Only some light static in places. Plays with no skipping, jumping or sticking. Outer Sleeve / Cover – VG-EX. Colours remain unfaded and clean. Superb laminated front. One small split veinlike crease in centre and a few at bottom but no other obvious creases or marks. Corners show little to no wear. Edges and spine are clean and unscuffed. Aperture shows very light wear. Reverse side has some marks and soiling around edges, notably the top and centre-right side. Overall, a nice example. Inner Sleeve – VG. White paper with central hole and squared corners. Folding, creasing and disc impression but clean and intact. Tracklist A1. You Can't Get To Heaven. A2. Feed The Birds. A3. In The Garden. A4. Walk With Faith. A5. Brighten The Corner. A6. Get On Board. B1. We Shall Not Be Moved. B2. Ninety And Nine. B3. Everybody Want To Go To Heaven. B4. It Took A Miracle. B5. Thank You. B6. Shall We Gather At The River. B7. Count Your Blessings. The liner notes read: The Poole brothers and sisters are seven in number: Stephen (15), Wendy (14), Michael (13), Angela (11), Judith (10), Denise (9) and Glyn (8). And they are veteran entertainers already! Way back in 1965 they sang at a local charity concert, without thinking much about it. The amazed and enthusiastic response from the audience let them on to sing at the town hall in Glasshoughton near Castleford, Yorkshire, where the family live. The local press and photographers ceased on the appearance and almost immediately they were in constant demand to sing at charities and functions far and wide. They raised over £2000 in an amazingly short time. When in January 1969 they did hospital broadcasts, they were heard by Yorkshire Television producer Jess Yates who asked them immediately to appear on the programme “Junior Showtime”. Since then, they have appeared on Irish Television ,at the famous Batley Variety club (on the same bill as Harry Secombe) and on “Youth Takes a Bow”, the ITV programme. And they appeared on the “Stars on Sunday”. This was almost inevitable, for one of the remarkable things about the programme is the natural way children fit into its special atmosphere. Every appearance by a child, or group of young people, singing or playing an instrument, is followed by many requests for their return to the programme. It must be the sincerity, the idealism and freshness of the young which equip them so well for the type of music which “Stars on Sunday” provides. The appearance of children is a revolution greater, surely, than the unexampled popularity of the programme (it is watched by 17 million viewers). The Poole Family lead this “revolution” and this solo LP is the result – 13 of their best numbers.
