It plays similarly to the classic game with some special game-play options. The collector's edition has several features for the Pokemon fan or Monopoly aficionado:The houses are now Pokecenters; the hotels are now Pokemarts The properties are now Pokemon. They represent the Pokemon the gym leaders use; a monopoly is therefore the equivalent of obtaining the gym's badge. The gyms are in the same order as you would obtain the badges in-game.The Community Chest cards are now Trainer Battle cards, and you receive or pay money based on Pokemon you defeat or are defeated by, respectively.The Chance cards are now Professor Oak cards and are based on a Pokemon-type action, e.g. "Battle Giovanni's Nidoking".The six collectible movers are now Pokemon. The 1999 edition has six colored movers--Bulbasaur, Charmander, Blastoise, Pikachu, Clefairy, and Mewtwo.The money is now Pokedollars.The railroads are now Pokeballs.The Utilities are now Power Plant (Zapdos) and Seafoam Islands (Articuno).This is one of the best Monopoly spin-offs--the gameplay is familiar and exiting, and the use of the Pokemon themes has been carefully implemented. Take it from daddybeanie--you and your friends and family will have hours of fun with Pokemon Monopoly--you may not want to go back to the classic version (in my family, we left the classic behind and play Pokemon and Star Wars Monopoly). The only issue is that it may take a while to get started--the players may have lengthy discussions over which player gets to pick which mover. As I've dealt with this issue, here's some advice--just do a roll of the dice for first, second, and third choice (yet, I digress...) This item is in excellent condition--the box is still sealed in plastic shrink wrap. It was stored within another box (for over 20 years!) in a climate-controlled room. It looks as if it were just manufactured and brought home from the store today! Not intended for children under 3 years of age. Contains small parts. Comes from smoke-free home. Free shipping.
