This award was linked to the purchase of paintings and helped her artistic work to gain financial recognition early on. A grant from the Institut Français de Berlin took her to Paris for a year. She later benefited from the artist emergency program - the Berlin Senate bought several of her paintings. She later bought most of them back. Brigitte Tietze lived and worked as a freelance artist in Berlin.
