Description: This is a 1996 Pleasant Company Girl of Today, #16 doll. The line came out in 1995 and there were 20 dolls with 3 face molds, 5 hair colors, 5 eye colors and 4 skin tones. This #16 has the classic face mold, dark brown hair, light brown eyes and fair skin. She was one of the more popular dolls of the original 20. She was finally retired in 2020, though she went through some modifications over that time. The 1995 and 1996 dolls are chubbier, their face paint is really pale and they have thick wigs with pie cut bangs. The 1997 and 1998 dolls have brighter face paint and the 1999 dolls have a slimmer face. The slimming of the doll continues with the purchase by Mattel. The vinyl limbs get harder. The dolls in the late 2000s get new wigs a few doll numbers at a time. The new wigs don't have pie cut bangs and the bangs are wispier. This doll is very clean and holds a pose. She was displayed for a long time with the bucket hat on her head and the hair is flattened from it. She comes in the 1995-1996 Mix and Match meet outfit. The tags on the underwear say ©1996 Pleasant Company, but all of the other tags say ©1995 Pleasant Company.
