Description: Brand new motor control for player piano suction box. Single on-board control allows adjustment of motor speed and thus vacuum level for player pianos. Required mounting location is inside piano, on (or near) motor to prevent electric shock. When installing this unit make absolutely certain the motor is unplugged! Basic instructions and installation hardware included - but if you are totally unfamiliar with AC current it is suggested you have a technician install this for you.This is a very basic speed controller - we also offer a two speed controller that gives you separate controls for play and rewind - check my eBay store.Trim potentiometer (blue box with gold screw) is used to set minimum speed for motor. After that is done, the black knob will control motor speed from minimum to maximum (if trim pot is not set there will be "dead space" on the black knob. Not dangerous, just frustrating.This is a motor controller, diac/triac controlled with an RC snubber to handle inductive loads. It is not a light dimmer - though it certainly could be used for that. Please be aware that there are similar looking units sold on eBay but ours has been upgraded - we found that stock units did not stand up as well to an inductive load as originally stated. We've upgraded this such that it specs at 15amp@120VAC (or 7.5A@240) but I strongly recommend using this with suction motors rated at 10amps@120VAC or less. All suction boxes for player pianos I've encountered in the US are 10 amp or less, so this shouldn't be a problem. NOT designed for motors other than suction boxes, so please purchase only for player piano suction box use.
