Description: FREE SHIPPING UK WIDE Plans for Sentences by Renee Gladman Plans for Sentences is the latest interdisciplinary work of genius from poet, novelist, editor, and artist Renee Gladman. FORMAT Hardcover LANGUAGE English CONDITION Brand New Publisher Description "These sentences-they-will begin having already been sentences somewhere else, and this will mark their afterlife, and this will be their debut." So begins Renee Gladmans latest interdisciplinary project, Plans for Sentences. A tour de force of dizzying brilliance, Gladmans book blurs the distinctions between text and image, recognizing that drawing can be a form of writing, and vice versa: a generative act in which the two practices not only inform each other but propel each other into futures. In this radical way, drawing and writing become part of a limitless loop of energy, unearthing fertile possibilities for the ways we think about poetry. If Gladman ascribes to any particular type of poetics, here in Plans for Sentences, we are sure to find that it is robustly grounded in a poetics of infinite language. Author Biography Renee Gladman is a writer and artist preoccupied with crossings, thresholds, and geographies as they play out at the intersections of poetry, prose, drawing and architecture. Recent essays and visual work have appeared in The Paris Review, Gulf Coast,Granta, Harpers, BOMB magazine, e-flux and n+1. She has been awarded fellowships, artist grants, and residencies from the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard, Foundation for Contemporary Arts, the Lannan Foundation, and KW Institute for Contemporary Art (Berlin), among others, and is the recipient of a 2021 Windham-Campbell prize in fiction. Description for Sales People LEAD TITLE Plans for Sentences is an interdisciplinary work of text and images and it is an extenuation and evolvement from Prose Architectures (Wave, 2017) and One Long Black Sentence (Image Text Ithaca Press, 2020). However, unlike these two other books, Plans for Sentences will be available in paperback, further broadening this books market. Gladmans Ravika series (Dorothy Press) has been very popular and has a robust readership. Calamities, Gladmans first book with Wave and the one in which she first articulated her ideas about writing and drawing, won the CLMP Firecracker Award and continues to garner review attention. Its one of our most popular titles and has recently gone into its 4th printing Gladman recently won the prestigious 2021 Windham-Campbell prize in fiction, marking her artistry at an international level. In 2020, Gladman is a current Bagley Wright Lecturer, and during the fall of this year she will give in-person lectures at Brooklyns Ace Hotel (in partnership with BOMB). The Bagley Wright Lecture Series is also working on scheduling a series of three virtual lectures, to be given serially (and publicly) in partnership with the Center for Imagination in the Borderlands this fall further increasing her visibility and outreach. Renee Gladman is well-known within various artistic circles, as she has established herself as a prominent poet, visual artist, editor, and novelist. Leon Works, her press, has been revolutionary in its own right (publishing such now notable authors as Fred Moten, Tisa Bryant, Bhanu Kapil). We are excited that this book will appeal to all the above audiences, and those new to her work will have a better sense of the interdisciplinary approach towards creation than if they were to first encounter her earlier books.
